U.S. Bank SinglePoint Modernization

Lead Architect on the Receivables domain

What I do

As the lead architect, I planned and strategized, collaborated with partners, brainstormed new ideas, and ensured our designs were inclusive. Leveraged the design system but also presented new patterns the greater team could adopt.

Deciphering MVP Product and User Requirements:

An ongoing process where we collaborated across six product teams, navigating unique challenges as many had not previously engaged with a design team. By fostering a culture of open communication and team spirit, we managed to build a harmonious working relationship. Together, we defined the MVP using a comprehensive spreadsheet that encompassed a broad spectrum of user wants, needs, and 'nice-to-have' features. To align everyone with the project's direction and objectives, we conducted a Design Thinking Sprint, which ensured a shared vision and collective understanding of the project's goals.

Modernization and Increased Efficiency:

The challenge lay in transforming the original SinglePoint platform within the Receivables domain into an efficient, user-friendly system. Though it was feature-rich, it wasn't optimally designed for user experience. Armed with user data, insights from Design Thinking sessions, and known user patterns, we turned the focus on user needs and accessibility.

We leveraged the established design system, capitalizing on its strengths, and pushing its boundaries wherever possible to enhance its effectiveness. The culmination of these efforts was a modernized and user-centered MVP, which served not only as a comprehensive solution within Receivables but also as a robust foundation for future expansions within the broader SinglePoint ecosystem.

Accessibilty:

During my tenure at U.S. Bank, accessibility wasn't just a box to check - it was part of our ethos. We aimed to craft a design that felt like a welcome mat for everyone, regardless of their experience level or abilities. Teaming up with our in-house accessibility experts was nothing short of enlightening.

Together, we navigated the learning curves and emerged with a deeper understanding of inclusive design principles. This insight proved invaluable as we modernized the SinglePoint system. Our mission? To create an intuitive and user-friendly platform that could cater to all. And let me tell you, it felt pretty great to see it all come together.

I have never worked with a team that prioritized accessibilty as much as much as U.S. Bank. Learned a lot!
